Heart Charter

myZebra and the Heart Charter

1. Figures which speak by themselves:

Every year in France, 40 000 people die of heart attack and only 2 or 3% of those victims are saved. In contrast, in other cities such as Seattle in the United States of America, the rate of people saved reaches 30%. In fact, thousands of lives could be saved if heart defibrillators are installed in public places and if people were more informed about cardiac interventions.
Companies play an important key in keeping informed the French population on first aid interventions and save lives, and to develop a network of accessible defibrillators within its borders.

2. myZebra is committed to save lives:

myZebra creates a better working environment where every employee well being is developed.
More specifically, important measures are also implemented such as: better information related to cardiac risks and diseases, training regarding first-aid interventions, and immediate access to heart defibrillators.
By signing this charter, our company is very committed to the issue of public health, and to act as a dynamic actor for social changes.

3. In accordance with this charter, we are committed to the following terms:

Awareness and knowledge on heart generic and lifesaving in cases of cardiac arrest:

  • Inform and prevent the general public on cardiac risks such as heart failure and cardiac arrest but also providing training for first aid interventions
  • Inform all our employees and partners of our commitment
  • Raise awareness regarding this public health stake to our partners (clients, suppliers…)
  • Support all actions initiated by local or national associations in order to inform or train first aid interventions and the usage of defibrillators
  • Push employees to learn first aid interventions
  • Organize events on cardiac risks by increasing its awareness and understand the “survival chain”: Call, massage, use of the defibrillator, and wait for help
  • Provide an easier access to official rescue and first aid degree courses to volunteers
  • Install defibrillators inside the company
  • Install defibrillators in collaboration with health services and / or work medical doctors guidance
  • Use European standards to make them more visible

4. The defibrillator:

What is the value of a human being life? The one of people close to you, your family and siblings, your friends, your colleagues, or the unknown person that you will cross your road? This value is just priceless and its preservation can depend on simple factors such as the access to a cardiac defibrillator next to a person who just had a heart attack.
Coronary heart disease represents the first cause of death in the world according the WHO (World Health Organization) and 10% of death in France. The first minutes are crucial and the rescue time can have tragic consequences.
The use of a defibrillator in the first minutes following the heart failure can save many lives and avoid a lot of major complications to others. Every citizen can use such device: the new models of defibrillator are made to automatically adjust to the victim’s body and the electric shocks are also electronically calculated so there is no more need for specific medical intervention. As a matter of fact, the French law has allowed any body to use an automatic defibrillator since 2007.

5. How to localize or report a defibrillator?

In order to find the closest defibrillator, you just need to download our apps on your iPhone or iPad, and you will then have all the required information.
